Fatty acids present in spirulina in the form of linolenic acid and gamma linolenic acid which elevates HDL levels and improves fatty acid profile and act as a precursor of prostaglandin E1 which prevents platelet aggregation in blood vessels and also controls inflammations. It is richest source of antioxidants like superoxide dismutase enzyme and beta-carotene. It also contains high concentrations of B complex vitamins and iron thus helps to improve heamoglobin levels. Spirulina enhances the immunological functions and reduces the level of serum lipids without producing adverse effects.
