Chocolate Dates Phirni Recipe

Phirni also called as firni is a delicious north Indian dessert which is served as a special dish in functions and festivals.

The traditional way in which firni is served in clay pots is the highlight of the dish, the display itself will give us the mouthwatering experience. Whereas our recipe is a fusion of the chocolate, dates and the traditional phirni.

We have used dates powder from Little moppet foods which is preservative free, these ingredients make the dish more and more delicious and healthy.

Ingredients:

Method:

Step 1

Drain the rice and grind with a little water to get a smooth paste.

Step 2

Pour 1/2 cup of milk in a bowl. Add the rice paste and 2 tablespoons Little Moppet Foods Choco Dates Smoothie powder and mix.

Step 3

Whisk well to ensure there are no lumps. Keep aside.

Step 4

In a sauce pan heat the remaining 1 cup milk on low to medium flame. Add the dry dates powder to it and allow the milk to boil for 2-3 minutes.

Step 5

Now add the rice mix to the milk and keep stirring to ensure the milk does not catch the bottom of the pan.

Step 6

Cook the phirni on a low flame until the rice is completely cooked, and the phirni appears thick and creamy. Keep stirring occasionally.

Step 7

The phirni thickens further on cooling, so switch off the flame accordingly. Garnish the phirni with pistachio slivers and serve in individual clay bowls.

Phirni is generally served chilled, although you can serve it warm too. It’s best to consume the chocolate dates phirni within a day. If you’re serving it later, be sure to keep it refrigerated until serving time.
