Diabetes Diet: Amazing Breakfast Recipes to Start Your Day!

Food has a major role to play to control diabetes. It's important to know what you cannot eat but attention should be given more to things which you should not skip. Breakfast is quite underrated by many of us but it is the most important meal of the day. Being a diabetic patient, you should eat what will be good for your health. There might be a temptation to eat sweet and indulge into a delicious breakfast to energize your day. We are here to help you plan your 5 day breakfast, hope this helps! 
 

1. Blueberry Chia Pudding
Chia seeds are most nutritious and healthy. They have zero added sugar and are low in Cholesterol and Calories. Since it does not have any added sugar, chia seeds consumption helps in lowering the blood sugar levels. Have this recipe in the morning and start your day afresh and happy!

  1. ​Mix True Elements Chia seeds, Almond Milk, Acai Powder, Vanilla Extract and honey in a bowl and keep it aside in the refrigerator for 4-5 hours or Overnight until you have a thick texture.
  2. If the mixture becomes thick add more almond milk.
  3. Spoon your chia layer into the bottoms of a cup or jar.
  4. Put Yogurt on the top and blueberries.


2. Chia Granola Mango Parfait
Mango is the king of fruits and so is breakfast the king of meals. So here we have both of them together for a delicious and healthy option for you. Granola has a risk prevention benefit for Diabetes. It has no added sugar and is made of 100% wholegrains. It is a good source of antioxidants, proteins and Omega3 which all contribute to reducing the risk of diabetes.

  1. Make a pudding out of chia seeds by soaking it in milk and refrigerating for couple of hours or overnight till the chia seeds are well swelled
  2. Take a glass jar and layer with mangoes cut in cubes ar thick pulp like consistency at the bottom.
  3. Add a layer of chia pudding on top of it.
  4. Add a layer of granola on top of it.
  5. Cut mangoes in cubes or make them into thick pulp-like consistency and add on top of it.
  6. Repeat the layering of chia pudding, granola and mango cubes or as per your desired layering.
  7. cranberries or crushed granola to garnish.


3. Rolled Oats Phirni

 The traditional Indian phirni is made up of rice, which is usually avoided by diabetic patients. But here, we replaced the rice with Rolled Oats. Rolled Oats are known for their 0% sugar content and thus are diabetic friendly.

  1. In a pan, dry-roast True Elements Rolled oats for 5-7 minutes on low flame until they turn brown.
  2. Keep aside
  3. Now in a pan, Boil milk, condensed milk, kesar and cardamom powder for 3minutes.
  4. Now add the Rolled Oats and chopped nuts.
  5. Cook until the Oats turn soft
  6. Turn off heat.
  7. Garnish with almonds & kesar!


4. Wholegrain Bread and Pumpkin Sunflower Seeds Butter
If you are looking for a healthy alternative for your regular bread and butter you can try this option and give your taste buds a little change! Pumpkin seeds are abundant in fibre and protein and sunflower seeds are known for controlling blood sugar levels. Overall this butter can be made sweet with raw honey and you are all set for a healthy and quick breakfast.

  1. To make your own homemade butter, preheat oven to 160 degrees and place seeds and spread them evenly on a baking sheet.
  2. Toast the seeds for 10 minutes until they turn light golden.
  3. Remove the seeds and let them cool.
  4. Place the warm seeds in a high-speed blender and blend for 7 to 10 minutes.
  5. Occasionally, scrape the sides of the blender.
  6. If you’re adding honey, you can add it at this step.
  7. Blend the mixture well until it’s smooth


5. Banana Bread
A delicious yet risk free recipe for you which you can eat any time of the day and not just restrict to breakfast. Regular bread is mostly avoided by the diabetic patients so we bring you an alternative. It's a bread made of True Elements Rolled Oats, bananas and raw honey. Rich in antioxidants, raw honey also helps in controlling the blood sugar levels and treats your sweet tooth. Then we have Gluten free Rolled Oats which is rich in Magnesium and improves your overall health.

  1. Preheat the oven to 350F.
  2. Grease the loaf container with either ghee or butter and keep it aside.
  3. In a large bowl, mix 3-4 ripe bananas, 2 cups Rolled Oats, 2-3 eggs, Raw Honey and 1tbsp baking soda together and blend it till you get a smooth batter.
  4. Transfer this mixture in the loaf container and bake it for 30-35 minutes.
  5. Insert a toothpick to check if it comes out clean.
  6. Let the loaf cool completely. Once done, your banana bread is ready to eat.
  7. You can even garnish the bread with round pieces of banana cut finely.
  8. Store it in a refrigerator in an airtight container.
