Vinegar is one of nature's great gifts to mankind, It is a truly natural product and its safe to say that man has been exposed to vinegar from ancient times. Recorded vinegar history starts around 5000 BC, when the Babylonians were using the fruit of the date palm to make wine and vinegar. They used it as a food and as a preserving or pickling agent. During Biblical times, vinegar was used to flavor food, as an energizing drink, and as a medicine, and it is mentioned in both the old and new Testaments. Nowadays, vinegar is made from a many other products too, like coconut water.

Vinegar history provides many examples of this liquid's usefulness in daily life. Diluted vinegar in small quantity has been used as a strengthening and energizing tonic by the military throughout the ages. Roman soldiers called this a refreshing drink and used it regularly as did the Japanese samurai. The addition of vinegar to drinking water had the additional benefit of killing any infectious agents that might have been present.

Naturally fermented coconut vinegar is rich in minerals and vitamins such as Beta carotene, calcium,  iron, magnesium, phosphorous, potassium and sodium. Vinegar is emerging as a functional food that not  only adds interest to your meal, it may also significantly benefit your health. As reported in the Journal  of  Food Science:2. “Functional therapeutic properties of vinegar include antibacterial activity, blood pressure reduction,  antioxidant activity, reduction in the effects of diabetes, prevention of cardiovascular disease, and  increased vigor after exercise.” Diluted dose of 5-10ml is suggested daily with any fruit juice or honey.

100% natural coconut water based vinegar can perform miraculous tricks for improving flavor, preserving food, filling in for  missing ingredients, and  even making food look better. This ingredient can prevent spoilage and salvage the occasional  cooking disaster.  In fact, if you add a drop here and there during the preparation  process, vinegar  may change the whole  personality of certain foods. Aside from the spark it adds to each dish, vinegar has a several other trade secrets up its sleeve.

  • A dollop of vinegar and tablespoon of salt added to the pot when hard-boiling eggs makes for easy removal of eggshells.
  • Vinegar enhances the color of vegetables.
  • Vinegar is great in marinades, as it breaks down protein which helps tenderize meat and fish.
  • Vinegar balances saltiness and can reduce bitterness.
  • Vinegar has many cleaning applications—window washing, odor removal, sanitation — to name only a few

Use a natural acid such as coconut vinegar to neutralize them. It can be applied via a piece of cloth or bandaging. Make sure to keep the stings soaked for at least 15 minutes and this should greatly help eliminate the discomfort . Coconut Vinegar acts as an agent to disinfect the affected areas.

Why, because it is a good combination to fish dishes and other seafood.  It is a good ingredient for vinegrette sauce for salads too.  There are many recipes that makes use of Coconut Vinegar. It just attests that it is definitely adds that zest flavor to your food.

Coconut vinegar is like other types of fermented vinegars such as balsamic vinegar and apple cider vinegar. It’s made from the water of the coconut tree. Coconut vinegar is cloudy vinegar with quite an acidic taste. When you purchase a bottle of coconut vinegar, like apple cider vinegar, it still contains the “mother,” which is the culture of organisms that created the fermentation of the vinegar. For that reason, you may give the bottle a good shake before each use. And, because we’re talking about a coconut product here, you can be assured that coconut vinegar is packed with nutrients. Use coconut vinegar in dressings and marinades like you would apple cider vinegar. It blends itself especially well to Asian-flavored dishes.   Brewed Vinegar has been produced in India for a very long time for use in medicines ( called sirca) and  food. Since vinegar can be produced from almost anything which has sugar or starch, each region in the country made vinegar from different materials. In Kerala from coconut water and toddy, from Jamun fruit, Palmyra sap, sugarcane juice, jaggery, raisins, palm sap and grapes in other parts of India.   So what exactly is vinegar? It gets its name from the French word vin aigre, meaning sour wine, which is an explanation of the original process. Wine becomes sour and turns to vinegar. So, vinegar is just a sour liquid made from the fermentation of sugar to alcohol and alcohol to vinegar. Nowadays, vinegar is made from a great many other products too, like rice, fruit, and grains.

Since vinegar is best made from converting  sugar into alcohol  it soon came under legislation. In India, licences are required for vinegar manufacture and it moved into the hands of big business. Till recently, the most popularly available has been a rather tasteless synthetic acetic acid vinegar. By the way synthetic vinegar is illegal for food use in most countries.   Vinegar has a good shelf-life. Most batches will remain intact for more than one year in a cool, dark place. Once opened, use within three to six months.
